When it comes to surround sound, the Dolby 5.1 system is the basic setup for home theatre speakers system. It has 5 separate audio streams through 6 speakers:
An essential element to surround sound is if the left speaker is in a corner the fight must also be in the same place across the room to create the perfect sound symetry.
A new surround sound format is “THX Surround Sound EX” which adds a back surround sound channel to Dolby Digital 5.1 system.

If you are looking for a new receiver, consider one that has both DTS ES and THX Surround sound EX 6.1 channel sound.
If your looking for complete surround sound you may have to purchase 4 wireless stereo speakers.
The first set of wireless stereo speakers would be to the side wall next to where you sit and watch.
The second set of speakers would be placed further back. They could be positioned on the back wall depending on the size of the room. Another option is put the second set of rear speakers along the ceiling. Either way you’ll be completely engulfed in complete surround sound much like you would hear in a modern movie theater.
